Environmental Club
The Importance of the Environmental Club at Biloxi Junior High School
The Environmental Club at Biloxi Junior High School plays a vital role in both student learning and community stewardship by partnering with Mississippi State to research best practices for growing marsh grass, leading hands-on beautification projects like tending to the newly planted trees and bushes, maintaining the butterfly garden at the front of the school, and nurturing an herb garden used for classroom activities; these efforts teach students ecological science and experimental methods, build leadership and teamwork through ongoing service, improve school grounds and local habitat for pollinators and marsh species, and connect classroom concepts to real-world environmental challenges while fostering pride and long-term care for the local ecosystem.
